National business award for Bedford College

20th Nov 2008

Bedford College is the first College in Bedfordshire or Luton to receive national applause for helping employers to ‘boost’ their businesses through training.

The College has been recognised as one of the first training providers in the Eastern Region to have achieved certification in the Training Quality Standard (TQS) – an assessment framework designed to recognise and celebrate the best organisations' delivery training and development solutions to businesses.

“This accrediation comes because of the way we anticipate and respond to employers’ demands for training for their staff.

“Training improves the services employees provide. That translates into real bottom line benefits for those in the private sector and improved customer and client satisfaction in the public sector,” said Director of Enterprise Sharon Chinneck,

“We are delighted that the feedback from businesses we work with has helped us to gain this prestigious accreditation - which other employers will be able to recognise as a sign of the benefits we can bring through quality training made available at the right time and the right place.”

Businesses whose praise for Bedford College helped to support the application for TQS status were:

Movianto the prescribe delivery giant based on the Bedford bypass

Lockheed Martin the international company with a UK base in Ampthill

Unipath women’s health diagnostics on the Priory Business Park

DHL the national warehouse and distribution company

plus many more SMEs and local authorities.
