Bedford is entering a new and exciting period of renewal and development. A key element of this is the delivery of 19,500 new homes in the area by 2021.

These homes will be built across Bedford, Kempston and the northern Marston Vale, the area identified by Government as a Growth Area. Housing developments will range in size from small sites up to major planned new communities. Click here for a map of these planned developments.

One of the largest brownfield housing development projects in England, is the innovative Wixams development which commenced in February 2007. Situated three miles south of Bedford, around the former Elstow Storage Depot land, the project will see a 750 acre brownfield site transformed into four garden villages, a town centre and an employment area, offering homes, jobs, schools and community facilities.

Renaissance Bedford is the informal partnership created to help meet the challenge of delivering the growth targets for new homes, jobs and infrastructure for the Bedford and North Marston Vale Growth Area. For further information, please visit www.renaissancebedford.org.uk
